Are you sitting comfortably? Good, then we will begin!

Wolds Pride was founded in September 2020 to create a platform and community where the past, current, and future generations of the LGBTQIA+ community can thrive, celebrate, get support, make connections, and learn. An all inclusive family that welcomes any member of society, regardless of sexuality or background.

2020 was a year where each and every one of us were challenged, tested, and experienced loss. The Wolds Pride team wanted to create a rainbow ray of hope in a time where all seemed dark.

Wolds Pride strives to be a long lasting legacy and organisation for generations to come.

A space where people can come and not only to express and discover themselves freely, but access everything they need to understand and flourish within their identity and community.

As an organisation we strive to develop, grow and expand over the years in order to provide a wider range of services for our local LGBTQIA+ community.

We are committed to remaining versatile as a charity. Continuously adapting, learning, and developing to meet the demands and needs of our community at any given time.

In short, our vision is for Wolds Pride to be a recognised, accessible, and adaptable organisation, that celebrates and promotes equality and diversity. A long lasting platform ensuring that ensures underrepresented individuals and subgroups within the community have a voice, and space.

Wolds Pride was approved for charitable status by the Charity Commission England and Wales on 16th February 2021 and since has been operating as a charitable incorporated organisation (CIO), charity number: 1193545.

As an organisation we are thrilled to have our work, projects, and opportunities and charitable aims and goals recognised by the charity commission just a few months into our journey as an organisation.
Being a registered and recognised charitable incorporated organisation (CIO) opens countless doors and allows us to continue developing and creating fantastic opportunities within the future for our local LGBTQIA+ community.

The object[s] of the CIO are:

To further benefit the residents of Pocklington, Market Weighton and surrounding area without distinction of sex, sexual orientation, race or other political, religious or other opinions by associating together the said residents and the local authorities, voluntary or other organisations in a common effort to advance education and provide facilities in the interests of social welfare for recreation and leisure time occupation with the objective of improving the conditions of life for the residents.
To promote social inclusion and tackle discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and inequalities for people with protected characteristics.

To promote equality of opportunity and to foster good relations by advancing public education and raising awareness on sexual discrimination and inequalities.

To support any person or a member of his/her/their family suffering inequalities because of one or more protected characteristic.

To further any other purpose which is charitable according to the law of England and Wales for the public benefit as the trustees see fit from time to time.
