2021 EVENT POSTPONEMENT

It is with a heavy heart that the Wolds Pride team have made the difficult decision to postpone our flagship event that was scheduled to take place in August 2021.

The decision to postpone has not been an easy one and the board have been working closely together to explore alterative avenues and plans for a suitable, smaller scale event.

However, with the current uncertainty of the lockdown roadmap coming to an end, combined with the threat of potential future COVID19 variants and lockdowns, the board have decided that we can not risk the health and safety of our community, board, volunteers, and all involved.

Being a new organisation, we also face the challenging and monumental task of securing funding from scratch to reach the budget we will require to deliver the dream flagship event we envision, and that our community deserves.

We know you may be disappointed by this decision, but we want to assure you that all is far from lost. The board have been working hard behind the scenes to create a jam-packed action plan to shape what we will design, develop, and deliver throughout the remainder of 2021.

Although this plan will be different to what we initially hoped, we ask that you stand by us and get involved with everything we have planned. Wolds Pride was born entirely out of passion and the drive to make a difference for our community, and we hope that passion translates into all we present this year.

We will be back in August 2022, even bigger, better, and bolder than we first imagined. A flagship event that will be a first within the area’s history, with it’s community at the core.

We want to say a huge thank you to our community, our partners, local businesses, and fellow pride and LGBTQIA+ organisations. Without your support we wouldn’t be where we are today.

We look forward to working closely with the Pocklington Arts Centre, along with other local organisations within the coming year to deliver our plans.

how Wolds Pride are responding to covid19

Our board of volunteers continue to closely monitor the ongoing COVID19 pandemic, including all government guidelines and advise to ensure we are fully complying with any rules, regulations and laws required.

As a charity that was founded during the pandemic, we have thrilled with the challenge to create, develop and design engaging, eye catching, informative, and interactive pieces of content for educational and entertainment purposes. We have also hosted multiple online events since receiving charitable status in February 2021, including collaborations with established organisations and artists, such as Hull and East Yorkshire Mind.

Should we be in a position to host physical events and opportunities within 2021, the board will work closely with appropriate local emergency services, and selected venues to ensure we deliver to highest level of safety, security, and hygiene.

We are committed to ensuring the health and safety of our local LGBTQIA+ and wider community, along with our board and volunteers remains our highest priority, and will continue to take the appropriate steps to ensure this is achieved.
